![]() ![]() It's like a little portal that takes you away for the time you spend there. ![]() We went in early June and even then, although a bit chilly, the water was refreshing and safe for even small children (with parents supervising of course). But this is all over the region right, buuut This one is cool because you can wade in the pools and stream area all the way up to the waterfall! There were two rock islands and the sound of the falls surrounds you. A shallow pool with a waterfall coming from between two cliffs with rock shelves on either side. After the last bend your met with an incredible view. After parking and paying a 2 dollar fee It's a short walk up some stairs and along a cool, narrow path overlooking a gorge. She said it was a couple miles up the road so we checked it out. In passing conversation with the lady at one of the ice cream parlors in Watkins Glen we mentioned splashing in waterfalls and she asked if we had been to Havana Glen. We had visited quite a few and were just blown away by the areas parks and falls but still hadn't gotten into one. It's only $5.Our family wanted somewhere to splash in a beautiful, picturesque falls.doesn't everyone. When you reach the opposing end of the gorge, there's a shuttle to take you to the opposite end to get back to your car. The park is at the foot of Seneca Lake which makes it a great springing point for a winery run. There's additional paths and land within the park, but I kept it to the gorge walk. Walkers can choose between the main trail and what is called the "Indian Trail". There's plenty of places to rest if you choose, which makes the hike as easy or difficult as you want it to be. Though the path is only 1.5 miles long, it's comprised of over 800 steps. There's barely an ounce of visible concrete to ruin the view. These are constructed from native stones, and designed to fully complement their setting. The park is comprised of stairs and paths through a beautiful waterfall-filled gorge. You can't believe that such natural splendor is so close to the main road, but it is! Parking is simple, located on either end of the gorge (upper or lower) if you go during the week. We would love to come back but not on a major holiday weekend.įirst off, possibly the most beautiful place in New York State, other than Niagara Falls. We didn't take any other trails bit I'm sure there are other trails that would fit your interest and energy. As we got near the middle of the bottom of the trail, we encountered a lot of traffic of people in some popular sites of the trail and some areas have narrow passages that it can only allow single file in both directions. Carved staircases made of stone, winding paved trails and tunnels and various waterfalls are simply awesome to see in the trails that we took. If you are young and energetic, you may start from the bottom and find your way up the trail. It was a nice and leisure walk going down the Gorge trail as opposed to going up the trail. Our friends told us that there is shuttle in the parking lot that would take us to the top and we did( $5 pp). We went there Sunday of the Labor day weekend, and we had to park to the adjacent parking lot because of the volume of cars already parked inside the state park parking fee applies. ![]()
